Successful Conclusion | Highlights from the 2025 Innovation High Tea: “Ripe Time for Global Expansion ——AI-Empowered Intelligent Manufacturing for Shared Success”

On June 6, the 2025 Innovation High Tea Event: “Ripe Time for Global Expansion —— AI-Empowered Intelligent Manufacturing for Shared Success” was successfully held in China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City. More than 100 representatives from government, academia, industry, and investment communities gathered to explore new opportunities and challenges in taking AI-driven intelligent manufacturing global, aiming to support enterprises in expanding into international markets.


Opening Remarks


The event commenced with an opening speech by Dr. Wang Datong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Guangzhou Development District. Dr. Wang emphasized that Guangzhou Development District and Huangpu District, as key hubs of technological innovation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, will continue to deepen industrial collaboration with Singapore, promote the integration of cutting-edge technologies with intelligent manufacturing, and build an open and win-win international innovation ecosystem. He expressed hope that the event would spark new ideas and insights, and encouraged participants from all sectors to focus on the innovation needs of Huangpu’s science and technology industries, share experiences, align resources, and facilitate the implementation of more technologies. His vision is to foster more tangible and high-quality industrial outcomes and jointly build a core engine for high-quality development in the Greater Bay Area.

Next, Professor Shuzhi Sam GE, Director of the NUS Guangzhou Research Translation and Innovation Institute (NUS GRTII), delivered a speech. On behalf of NUS GRTII, Professor Ge extended a warm welcome to all attending leaders and guests. He noted that, as a collaborative platform for the National University of Singapore's involvement in the development of the Greater Bay Area, NUS GRTII is committed to its mission of “Connecting Singapore and Guangzhou, Empowering Both Ways.” He welcomed elites from all sectors to engage in exchange and cooperation, with the goal of advancing the transformation of scientific research achievements and promoting innovative applications.

Frontier Insights: Technology-Driven Growth and Regional Synergy


During the keynote session, Mr. Yap Jun Hong, Regional Director (South China) at Enterprise Singapore, delivered a speech titled “Bilateral Expansion for Shared Success.” He presented Singapore’s strategic initiatives in the field of artificial intelligence and highlighted the achievements of China-Singapore cooperation. Mr. Yap noted that Singapore is advancing AI applications in areas such as climate change and financial services through its National AI Strategy 2.0 (NAIS 2.0). Leveraging a global network of 35 offices, Singapore continues to deepen its collaboration with China in areas including smart cities and joint R&D. For example, the Shenzhen-Singapore Joint R&D Funding Program has already supported multiple innovative enterprises in tackling key technological challenges. As he emphasized, the collaborative momentum between China and Singapore is ongoing and thriving.

Mr. Cai Peng, General Manager of Solutions (Southern Region), Tencent Cloud, gave a presentation on “AI-Empowered Intelligent Manufacturing Cloud Ecosystem for Global Expansion.” He highlighted Tencent’s technological breakthroughs in large language models, robotics, and global infrastructure. Mr. Cai emphasized that Tencent Hunyuan demonstrates outstanding performance in areas such as coding and mathematical reasoning. Integrated with embodied intelligence and IoT technologies, it has been applied to scenarios including intelligent manufacturing and smart transportation. He also noted that, Tencent Cloud, with its deployment across 70 availability zones worldwide, offers enterprises robust and reliable computing power as well as data compliance solutions to support their international expansion.

Mr. Chen Hanrui, President of DBS Bank (China) Limited Guangzhou Branch, delivered a speech titled “Financial Empowerment for AI + Intelligent Manufacturing’s Global Expansion.” He explained how financial institutions can support enterprises in their global expansion through digital supply chain finance. Leveraging its extensive network across Asia, DBS Bank helps businesses manage cross-border risks and pursue sustainable development.

Keynote Speeches: Synergistic Empowerment through Industry-Academia-Research Collaboration


Ms. Fu Xiaofang, Senior Associate Director of NUS GRTII, shared insights on enterprise globalization under the theme “Setting Sail South Again.” She emphasized that NUS GRTII is building an industry–academia–research collaboration platform that integrates NUS’s research resources to support outbound enterprises with comprehensive services—from technology transfer to market implementation.

 

Ms. Li Chunxin, Head of the Research Translation Office at NUS GRTII, introduced the latest developments in frontier technologies in fields such as biomedicine, smart transportation, and robotics. These include the clinical application of an AI-assisted ovarian function assessment system at the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, and a low-altitude cross-domain unmanned systems test platform that has achieved breakthroughs in navigation technology under complex conditions. Ms. Li noted that NUS GRTII is advancing several cutting-edge R&D projects and welcomes discussions on collaboration from industry professionals.


Expert Dialogue: Breaking Barriers in Cross-Border Collaboration


The expert dialogue session was moderated by Ms. Fu Xiaofang, Senior Associate Director of NUS GRTII. Industry experts including Yuan Ning, Founder of Dongguan Jingyao Tianshu Intelligent Technology; Liu Ruizhe, Founder of SEEINGFLOW Technology; and He Yi, Director of the Development Department at MINO Equipment, engaged in an in-depth discussion on “Practical Implementation and Growth Strategies for the Global Expansion of AI-Empowered Intelligent Manufacturing.”

The expert dialogue was dynamic and insightful, with guests sharing innovative perspectives on key issues such as the adaptation to technical standards, data compliance, and localized operations.
